At the moment, I'm very happy. Number one, it's my birthday, and I've just come into the possession of a few hundred dollars. Number two, the plan for an Australian nationwide internet censorship regime has all but been shot down.

Thanks to an opposition from the Coalition, Greens, and both independent senators (with Nick Xenophon recently doing what he does best and changing his mind), the clean feed now seems to have no hope of passing in the Senate. I don't mean to count my chickens before they hatch, but this almost certainly looks like the death of the clean feed.

Everyone who showed their opposition to this censorship have helped shoot this plan down. Whether you organised a protest or signed a petition, you helped raise awareness of the flaws and inconsistencies in the government's clean feed plan and fueled the ever-growing opposition. We can all give ourselves a good pat on the back for a job well done, and I'm glad that free speech and common sense have prevailed, for now.
